Oct. 12/13 Picks

Dan Kasper: Badgers vs Northwestern: The Badgers have had two weeks to think about their disappointing loss to Ohio State and now they face another tough test in Northwestern. Northwestern is also coming off a disappointing loss to Ohio State. So the question is: Who wants to avenge that loss more? The Badgers always seem to struggle against Northwestern and this year, Northwestern proves to be a tougher task. But, the Badgers have had two weeks to get ready for Northwestern and the Badgers should be able to run the ball and keep the ball out of Northwesterns high powered offense. Since the game is at home for the Badgers, I give them the edge here. Wisconsin 30 Badgers 27.

Oregon vs Washington: Another big college game on tap for the weekend. The number 2 ranked Ducks head to Washington to take on the number 16 Huskies. This is definitely the Ducks hardest game so far this year and Washington should at least make a game out of it. But Oregon is so dominate on both sides of the ball, I still see at least a two score victory for the Ducks. Oregon 50 Washington 30.

Packers vs Ravens: There will be two key matchups for this game. The first one is Ravens wideout Torrey Smith vs Packers cornerback Sam Shields. The Ravens rely on the deep ball, with Smith being the primary target. Shields will be the guy called upon to cover Smith, because of his speed and size. The other matchup will be the Packers offensive line vs the Ravens front seven. The Packers again face a good rushing defense and will have their hands full lead by former Defensive Player of the Year Terrell Suggs. To help predict this game, I look at the numbers. The Packers have an overall defensive ranking of 19th where the Ravens are 14th. Both make their mark with rushing defense, where the Packers are ranked 5th and the Ravens are ranked 6th. The offense is a different story. The Packers are ranked 3rd overall where they are in the top 5 in both passing and rushing. The Ravens are 21st overall in offense with 14th in passing and 27th in rushing. The offense is what will predict the winner of this game. Packers 30 Ravens 20.

Panthers vs Vikings: The Vikings got a new toy in quarterback Josh Freeman, but its not expected he will play this game. It shouldn't matter though, because the Vikings are facing a struggling Carolina Panthers team. Cam Newton is not playing to the ability he showed everyone in his rookie year. As long as whomever is playing at quarterback for the Vikings doesnt blow it, Im picking the Vikings, at home, coming off the bye. Vikings 27 Carolina 17.

Saints vs Patriots: This is probably the game of the week. The Saints are coming into New England undefeated for the season and the Patriots come home after suffering their first lost of the season last week against the Bengals. But, the Patriots will be receiving some help for this game. Pro Bowl tight end Rob Gronkowski will be making his season debut and wideout Danny Amendola returned last week, so Brady will have his passing weapons. The Saints have been a surprise team this year, but they have to lose sometime right? I think its this game if they do. Brady, at home, with his top two weapons. I can't bet against that. Patriots 35 Saints 31.

Fitz:  Badgers going up against a tough Northwestern team, but with the 2 week layover and my prediction of Abredderis having 3, yes 3 TDs the Badgers are going to bounce back from the OS loss in a 38-21 blowout. Go Bucky!

For the Washington Oregon game, I dont know much about Washington to talk about them much, but I know Oregon is not reeling too much after losing Chip Kelley to another green team, I got Oregon wining 44-21.

Packers Ravens is going to be a great matchup, but the Ravens are still trying to find themselves and wondering when Ray Diddle Diddle is going to come back. Packers are going to take this one 27-21.

I think we are going to be seeing a lot of Josh Freeman in his debut as a Viking. It will be the battle of the QBs in the Vikings victory over the Panthers 24-17.

The Saint Patriots game is going to be one for the ages. Drew Brees vs Tom Brady is going to be an incredible game, similar to the Broncos and 'Boys game last week. I think Brady is going to go off with his favorite target coming back, it will be Gronktastic. Patriots are going to hand the Saints their first loss in a shootout 41-38.

Luc Anthony:  Badgers 31 Northwestern 28

Oregon 48 Washington 38

Ravens 28 Packers 24

Vikings 21 Panthers 20

Patriots 34 Saints 30

Mike Ness:  Northwestern 25 badgers 28.

Oregon 35 Washington 31

Erik Austin: Badgers have something to prove against a worthy opponent...37-34, Bucky!

Oregon heads to the 2nd Loudest Stadium in the Land...they know how to handle it against a good Husky D. 31-20, Ducks.
